Background:

HelpAge International and its partners WSCR & YEC is implementing the second phase of the project “Increasing the resilience of, and improving access to appropriate care for older people in the Gaza Strip” funded by Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC), and they are seeking two candidates to fill the position of Physiotherapist Assistant under the direct supervision of the project coordinators.

The Physiotherapist Assistant is assigned to participate in the rehabilitative program that improves mobility, relieves pain, increases strength, and decreases or prevents deformity of the older people who suffer from a disease or injury.

Description of Responsibilities:

He/she will be accountable for the following duties and responsibilities:
-Assist in improving the physical wellbeing of the older people by means of rehabilitation exercises, and providing mobility and other technical aids.
-Use the physiotherapy assessment form to:
-Identify problems and determine the older people needs prior to intervention using the physiotherapy assessment sheet. 
-Record prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart. 
-Identify and document goals, anticipated progress and plans for reevaluation. 
-Plan, prepare and carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients. 
-Administer manual exercises, massage or traction to help in relieving the pain, increase patient strength, or decrease or prevent deformity or crippling. 
-Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit. 
-Test and measure patient's strength, motor development and function, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency and record data. 
-Instruct the old person and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home. 
-Conduct awareness raising session for older people in different topics related to mobility health. 
-Provide technical reports to project coordinator on daily basis. 
-Perform other duties as assigned by the project coordinator. 

Competencies:
-Degree in Physiotherapy or any other related field.
-Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a physiotherapy, working with older people is an advantage. 
-Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.
-Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
-Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
