About PACBI:
The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) was launched in Ramallah in April 2004 by Palestinian academics and intellectuals through the call for the academic and cultural boycott of Israel [hyperlink call]. PACBI is a founding member of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. As part of the BDS National Committee (BNC), PACBI is the global reference for the global campaigns for the academic and cultural boycott of Israel.
Job Description:
The role of the PACBI Coordinator is to devise systems for and ensure the smooth functioning of PACBI’s operations, including:
-Working closely with the PACBI Steering Committee to develop and/or coordinate effective academic and cultural boycott campaigns, including:
--Staying abreast of local, Arab and international BDS developments, especially in relation to academic and cultural boycott of Israel.
--Participating in the development of campaign strategy, actions and key messages, particularly related to anti-normalization work.
--Following up with partners on campaigns and initiatives.
--Producing relevant interviews, articles and other campaign materials that help to link BDS campaigns to ongoing developments and popular resistance in Palestine.
-Coordinate communication with the Advisory Committee, soliciting and channeling their input and sharing with them important developments.
-Facilitating PACBI’s communication, both internal and externally with partners around the world, in coordination with other BNC staff.
-Establishing excellent working relationships with PACBI’s main partners globally, including in the Arab world, ensuring regular communication with partners about recent updates, news and developments related to the academic and cultural boycott of Israel.
-Coordinating timely and accurate responses to inquiries received by PACBI.
-Updating PACBI’s website and managing the social media presence, including the academic and cultural boycott mailing lists.
-Liaising with BNC staff on all academic and cultural boycott campaigns.
-Devising an ambitious yet realistic plan to expand PACBI’s work locally and internationally, in coordination with the PACBI Steering Committee.
-Ensuring the smooth functioning of PACBI’s work, including internal communication, capacity building and strategy development.
-Producing semiannual reports on academic and cultural boycott developments and PACBI’s role and priorities, to share with BNC members.
-Organizing effective and regular PACBI Steering Committee and Advisory Committee meetings, ensuring documentation of meetings proceedings, and follow up on their resulting decisions.
-Contributing to the development and implementation of PACBI’s fundraising strategy.
-Representing the BNC in media interviews and public events both locally and internationally, in ACBI-related matters, and in coordination with the PACBI Steering Committee.
Required skills:
Essential
-Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, in both English and Arabic, and an ability to communicate political ideas in an accessible and engaging way.
-Excellent inter-personal skills, including a proven ability to build strong working relationships and contribute positively to a healthy team dynamic.
-Excellent organizational skills and an ability to manage workload and priorities independently, including when working to strict deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
-Experience with political campaigning and an understanding of how campaign actions can lead to social and political change.
-Commitment to and passion for the achievements and potential of the BDS movement.
Desirable
-Experience in BDS or other anti-normalization campaigning.
-Experience in creating and using communications in campaigning, such as articles, fact sheets, reports and blogs and/or websites.
-Experience in using social media in campaigning.
