The A.M. Qattan Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit developmental organisation working in the fields of culture and education, with a particular focus on children, teachers and young artists. The Foundation’s operations are mainly in Palestine, with interventions in Lebanon through Selat: Links Through the Arts, and in the United Kingdom through The Mosaic Rooms. The Foundation is seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual for a senior position of Director of Public Programme to work in its offices in Ramallah, Palestine. Following is the description of this position:

Job Objective: A rare opportunity to design and implement a dynamic, innovative and successful public programme at the Foundation’s new cultural centre in Ramallah, with the aim of creating a major cultural hub with a regional and international reputation in Palestine. This senior level position will aim to achieve this through the efficient implementation of the Programme’s initiatives and activities in line with the Foundation’s vision, mission, objectives and strategic plan and in close coordination with its core programmes and key stakeholders and beneficiaries.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

-Developing & managing implementation of an annual calendar of diverse public activities that includes but is not limited to: exhibitions, film screenings, theatrical, musical and dance performances, lectures, panel discussions and workshops, in close coordination with core programmes and relevant staff.
-Contributing to the development of the artistic programme of the jointly organized festivals/biennials and managing the implementation of the Foundation’s public activities in these events.
-Fostering awareness & understanding of the Foundation’s work through creative & innovative activities & events that engage and inspire different community groups
-Developing and nurturing existing partnerships and cultivating new relationships with curators, artists, researchers, galleries, museums, institutions, schools and universities at the local, regional and international levels, to ensure that the programme remains innovative, cutting edge and responsive to its various audiences;
-Overseeing all phases of events development, planning, design, production, and delivery, in collaboration with the relevant staff and specialists
-Extending the programme’s reach through programme delivery off site, including through touring opportunities and learning and engagement projects and initiatives, to ensure that the general public is able to gain greater access to the Foundation’s programmes and activities
-Preparing and overseeing an annual audience development strategy to attract new and sustain existing audiences, and engage audiences with special needs, in close coordination with the Director of Communication and Public Relations
-Preparing the annual programme’s budget, and conducting cost and expenditure tracking activities in close coordination with the Director of Finance and relevant staff
-Overseeing the content of communication materials for the programme in coordination with the Director of Communication and Public Relations
-Directing and managing the programme’s staff; ensuring that staff members are inducted, supported, and encouraged to develop within their roles, including programme’s casual staff and interns
-Conducting regular and annual staff appraisals and identifying their development and training needs
-Preparing and presenting regular narrative and progress reports including those for the Foundation’s semi-annual,  annual and public reports
-Using a range of digital media for dissemination of programmes and recognizing the potential for digital content/provision
-Maintaining organized hard and soft copies of all public programme activities 
-Participating in management committee meetings
-Any other work related activities
 

Skills/Qualifications:

-A wide-ranging exposure to, and knowledge of, the cultures, histories, politics and societies of the world, including through history, philosophy, education, literature, the sciences, music, the visual and audio-visual arts, theatre, dance, current affairs etc…
-A good knowledge of local, regional and international institutions and individuals who are active in these fields;
-A minimum of bachelor degree in any of these fields
-A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
-Ability to work with practitioners, academics and other professionals and to build highly effective partnerships with teams and organisations
-Ability to plan and implement cultural events, festivals, lectures, exhibitions, …, etc
-Strong project management, prioritization and organizational skills
-Strong budgetary skills
-Excellent computer skills
-Excellent proposal and report writing skills
-Ability and willingness to travel abroad
-Ability and willingness to live in Ramallah or Jerusalem, Palestine
-Written and spoken English essential; written and spoken Arabic preferred
