Background:
-The Right to Education Programme in the Gaza Strip aims to support recovery efforts in the educational sector in Gaza through reconstructing, rehabilitating and building-better what was destroyed in the latest war against Gaza this past July/August 2014, increasing the capacity for mental health care in Gaza and by restoring the hope of youth for increased prospects of employment through e-work. The proposed programme provides an unprecedented opportunity to respond to the recovery of the education sector in a holistic manner, integrating emergency responses into a sustainable and scalable development intervention. The Right to Education Programme, will allow over 600,000 Palestinian children and youth to regain equitable access to quality education and its completion in an inclusive child-friendly learning environment by 2016.
-The Programme is supported by Education Above All (EAA) Al Fakhoora programme. EAA’s aim is to build a global movement that contributes to human, social and economic development through quality education and other welfare programmes and initiatives. With a particular focus on areas affected by poverty, conflict and disaster, EAA champions the needs of children and youth and empower them to be active members of their communities. By meeting the demand for education, EAA equips them to support sustainable development and to nurture environments of peace, security, justice and prosperity.
-UNDP/PAPP is seeking a candidate to fill the position of a Communications Project Coordinator, under the overall guidance of the Right to Education Programme Manager, and direct supervision of UNDP Communication’s Specialist. As this position is related to Al Fakhoora Right to Education Programme in the occupied Palestinian territory, with an expected duration of two years, the Service Contract extension will be conditioned to satisfactory performance evaluation as well as availability of funding under the project.
-The Communications Project Coordinator will support the communications and visibility of the Right to Education programme activities in Gaza. The Communications Project Coordinator will work closely with the Right to Education programme team to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the communications plan, in close coordination with UNDP communications unit.
 
Description of Responsibilities:

Summary of key functions:
-Implement the Right to Education communications strategy
-Coordinate communications support related to Programme outcomes
-Facilitate knowledge building and knowledge sharing
-Assist in other related tasks as requested by the Communications Specialist, in consultation with the Head of the Gaza office

-Ensure the implementation of the Right to Education communications strategy, focusing on the following:
 -Plan and monitor communication activities to increase awareness of the Right to Education Programme in cooperation with relevant programme stakeholders.
 -Organize, in consultation with the communications unit, discussions, media encounters, knowledge-sharing events and other visibility and advocacy opportunities to disseminate programme messages.
 -Draft articles, press releases, speeches/talking points, and factsheets outlining main project results and disseminate them among stakeholders, partners and beneficiaries.
 -Produce videos, success stories and other audiovisuals in support of programme activities.
 -Under the guidance of the UNDP communications specialist, support the production of the “award winning” documentary
 -Translate communications materials related to the Right to Education programme such as brochures, pamphlets, and web documents from English to Arabic and vise versa.
 -Support the monitoring of all communication and advocacy components related to the Right to Education Programme
 
- Coordinate communications support for components related to the Right to Education Programme outcomes
 -Liaise closely with the different team members in order to feed the Programme online platforms with news and content
 -Ensure that the advocacy and social media team presents the human face behind the reconstruction components, and activities are documented and showcased through different mediums.
 -Prepare regular progress reports on communication workplans, activities, and related financial expenditure as requested by the UNDP PMU and per donor requirements.
 -Provide information on regular basis to the communications unit in order to facilitate the updating of the corporate UNDP/PAPP website.
 -Ensure efficient updating of data through regular and ad hoc field visits and follow up
 -Follow up on performance indicators and prepare regular analytical summative reports on the reach of communications and outreach activities
 
-Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and management focusing on achievement of the following results:
 -Identification, and documentation of best practices and lessons learned
 -Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice

Qualifications :
Education: 
-Advanced university degree in communications, media, Business Administration, or a relevant field from a recognized academic institution.
Experience: 
-5 years of progressive professional experience in the field of communications, media and public relations.
-Experience in campaigning, usage of social media, discussion boards, blogs, and Microsoft office tools

Language Requirements: 
-Fluency in Arabic and English language written and spoken
-Strong and effective verbal and proven written communications skills
