WeC (Weapon Contamination) – RE (Risk Education) Field Officer 
One year fixed term contract (possible extension)

 
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an independent, neutral organization ensuring humanitarian protection and assistance for victims of war and armed violence. It takes action in response to emergencies and at the same time promotes respect for international humanitarian law and its implementation in national law.

Purpose of the post
As a result of the numerous conflicts of the past 50 years Gaza is heavily contaminated with Explosive Remnants of War (ERW).  ERW creates persistent hazards that continue to kill and maim long after the conflicts have ended, tragically a large proportion of these casualties are children.  The Weapon Contamination Risk Education Field Officer is a new position aimed to address this issue and will focus on integrating ERW risk education into government schools.  The school RE project will aim to increase youth awareness to the hazards posed by ERW and in turn safeguard Gazan children and increase their resilience in the aftermath of war.  
    
Your Job (main tasks)
-Support the WeC delegate with the development of innovative and effective new RE (Risk Education) materials and tools.
-Maintain and build contact with relevant interlocutors and implementing partners. 
-Organise and deliver RE Training of Trainers to implementing partners.
-Support the implementation and continuous improvement of RE programmes delivered by implementing partners.
-Conduct quality assurance assessments to ensure the quality of training delivered by implementing partners and deliver refresher training as required.
-Keep records of distributed materials and RE activities performed. 
-Participate in broader WeC activities.
-Plan, organise and conduct field trips whenever needed.
-Contribute to local Media monitoring for related issues, and keep the delegate up to date.
-Support data management and produces reports as required. 
-Register and treat different information with confidentiality and accuracy.
-Act as technical translator for the delegate as required.

Your Profile (competences & experience required)
-Minimum high school or professional diploma.
-3 to 5 years field experience working in a teaching, training, or customer facing service capacity and possess strong interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills. 
-Good knowledge of written and spoken English. 
-Good computer and analytical skills.
