medico international (www.medico.de/en) is a German non-governmental organization that struggles for the human right to health. We support local partners in their endeavours to create the economic, social and cultural conditions that allow each person to attain the highest health standard possible as well as access to equitable, affordable and quality health care services.

medico seeks a dynamic, committed, experienced and qualified Projects Officer (PO) in full-time who is aware of the political implications of aid to support the work of the office for Palestine and Israel. The PO is based in medico’s Ramallah office and shares responsibility for project planning, monitoring and reporting and a variety of other tasks.

Main tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited:
-Follow-up on project implementation by medico’s partner organizations in Palestine (incl. the Gaza Strip) and Israel through office work, visits to partners’ offices, regular field visits etc. incl. the monitoring and immediate reporting of deviations and development of time management plans for the projects
-Coordination and communication with the partners according to partnership principles of medico
-Ensuring that projects are run according to donor regulations (incl. tendering); for financial & admin. issues (especially tendering) relevant to projects, cooperation with medico’s staff responsible for this
-Keeping the Representative (Rep) of medico informed by monthly project progress reports
-Facilitation of narrative reporting by partners incl. the development of intermediate and final reporting standards, follow-up on reporting intervals and making sure partners submit their reports on time; analysis of reports and comparison with proposals/plans, documentation and filing of reports
-Facilitation of monitoring missions / travel of staff and field visits
-Follow-up with external consultants on their M&E reports and analysis
-Independent collection of background information relevant to the projects
-Coordination with other stakeholders (local and international NGOs, UN, PA ministries) incl. regular participation in relevant meetings (Health & Nutrition Coordination Meeting) in cooperation with the Rep
-Follow-up on filing system, IT issues of the office, part of the admin. tasks in cooperation with colleagues
-Updating the office knowledge management and information database
-Support of the Rep in developing concept notes and proposals for future projects incl. collection of data related to potential partners, information on updates in areas relevant to medico’s work

Qualifications/Skills required
-Degree in development, humanitarian aid, public health or other relevant discipline
-At least 4 years of relevant experience of which a minimum of 3 years in an NGO
-Demonstrated track record of project planning, monitoring and reporting
-Demonstrated experience in dealing with donor reporting requirements
-Ability to meet deadlines effectively and work independently under limited supervision
-Familiarity with project planning and management tools
-Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment
-Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
-Accuracy and attention to details, excellent organizational skills
-Proven computer skills, including experience using MS Office
-Perfect command of written and spoken English & Arabic

Duty station: Ramallah with travel in Palestine (incl. the Gaza Strip) and Israel (depending on permits)
Working language: English and Arabic (Hebrew is an asset but not a requirement)
Type of position: full-time (40 hours/week)
Contract: fixed-term 2 years with possibility of extension; 6 months probation period
