Family Strengthening Programme Field Worker

SOS Children’s Villages take action for children as an independent non-governmental social development organization. We build families for children in need, we help them shape the development of their communities, we respect varying religions and cultures, and we work in countries and communities where our mission can contribute to development. 

SOS Children’s Villages Palestine is seeking to recruit Field Workers for the Family Strengthening Programme at SOS Children’s Village Programme Bethlehem. 

Location: Bethlehem  

Position: Family Strengthening Programme Field Worker 
Reports to: Family Strengthening Programme Coordinator 

Position summary
The field worker will take part in the day-to-day implementation of the family strengthening. S/he will be responsible to assess the children/family situation and support the family development planning (FDP) process. Through regular family visits, s/he will support guide and counsel families to ensure children's essential needs are met and also organize various psycho-social group activities for the beneficiaries and communities. 

Tasks & responsibilities

-Support the provision of services to beneficiaries and their families 
-Assist with the initial assessment of potential beneficiaries, as required 
-Establish and regularly review family development plans with each family to ensure children's essential survival and developmental needs are met 
-Organize and facilitate relevant services offered including such activities as care-givers capacity building in child care, support groups, psycho-social support to the beneficiaries and child recreational activities
-Provide psychosocial counseling to beneficiaries as necessary and based on capacity
-Work closely with partner CBOs and volunteers 

Qualifications

-University degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, or any related field
-A minimum of two years’ field work experience in developmental social welfare preferably with children
-Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic

Competencies

-Ability to work under pressure 
-Ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently
-Ability to conduct and coordinate training and participatory assessment
-proven reporting and communication skills
